Job opportunities and salary for BCA Artificial Intelligence in India

31 July 2023

Over the last few years, artificial intelligence (AI) has taken over the world. It has opened up a plethora of new possibilities for the future. From space research to machine learning, artificial intelligence is making waves across the globe.

Due to this growing demand, there have been many career opportunities in artificial intelligence. One of these is Bachelor's in Computer Applications in Artificial Intelligence. As stated by LinkedIn, there is a huge prospect in the field of BCA Artificial Intelligence, which puts artificial intelligence practitioners among the 'jobs on the rise' in 2021.

Today, we shall discuss the job opportunities for a candidate pursuing BCA in artificial intelligence.

What BCA AI Careers Can You Pursue?

Despite being a new and niche field, careers in artificial intelligence aren't homogenous. There are several types of roles you can undertake after completing your BCA in Artificial Intelligence.

Machine Learning Engineer

A machine learning engineer (ML engineer) helps create, build, research and design self-reliant artificial intelligence (AI) systems to automate predictive models. An ML is a bridge between software engineering and data science. These individuals create large-scale data scientific models with the help of data science, mathematics skills, deep learning, cloud networks, programming skills, etc.

Machine learning engineers can earn an annual salary ranging between INR 3.0 Lakhs to INR 20.5 lakhs with an average annual salary of INR 6.8 lakhs.

Business Intelligence Developer

Business intelligence (BI) developers are responsible for organising, generating, and maintaining business interfaces such as data visualisations, dashboards, regular and impromptu reports, etc. They help identify trends from complex internal and external data. They do not prepare the report themselves but help model, design, and maintain huge and complex data in highly accessible cloud-based data platforms.

The salary for BI developers ranges from INR 3.5 Lakhs to INR 11.1 Lakhs, with an average annual salary of INR 6.0 Lakhs in India.

Data Scientist

Data scientists are also known as data analysts. They monitor and evaluate business data to create intelligence. They also work to find predictive insights that can influence business decisions. Data scientists find and analyse data from different sources, such as customer transactions, global satellite plots, and click streams. They create and identify meaningful data platforms with the help of various technology tools, processes, and algorithms.

According to AmbitonBox, an average annual salary of a data scientist is INR 10 Lakhs and can even go up to INR 25.2 Lakhs per skill level and expertise.

Research Scientist

Research scientists are professionals who design, undertake and analyse information from experiments, trials, and controlled laboratory-based investigations. The research scientist role is the most sought-after academically driven AI career option. This is because they ask new and creative questions to be answered by AI. They are experts in areas such as AI, mathematics, machine learning, deep learning, statistics, etc. However, a BCA in artificial intelligence alone is not sufficient. The research scientists must aim for a doctoral degree in computer science.
The average annual salary of a research scientist is INR 8.7 Lakhs and can go higher up to INR 56 Lakhs based on knowledge and skill.

Big Data Engineer/Architect

A big data engineer designs, builds, tests, and maintains complex data processing systems to work with large data sets. They develop ecosystems that help communicate effectively across various business verticals and technologies.

The average annual salary of a big data engineer/architect is INR 8 Lakhs.

Robotics Engineer

The robotics engineer is one such career in AI that has been gaining popularity since the 1950s. Robotics has slowly taken over the world, such as teaching students to perform robot-assisted surgeries. A humanoid robot facilitates these robotic activities that robotic engineers build. Along with machine learning and AI qualifications, robotics engineers are also expected to understand CAD/CAM, 2D/3D vision systems, the Internet of Things (IoT), etc.

Robotics engineers can earn between INR 1.8 Lakhs to INR 7.2 Lakhs, depending on experience and level of expertise.

Hence, there are a lot of lucrative job opportunities if you study BCA in artificial intelligence. The hiring percentage will likely increase in the coming days, and the salary range will also increase. Therefore, if you are interested in pursuing a career in artificial intelligence, this programme is a good choice!
